First time having Japanese BBQ !

Updated: Mar 16, 2021

Gyu-Kaku ( Boston, MA)

If you are a picky eater , let me tell you something right now. You're missing out on sooo much! It baffles me how people limit their taste buds to such a selected few food items.

With the company of my friend Anissa we finally found the time to try a Japanese BBQ restaurant recently. Let me just start by saying how much i appreciate this girls appetite, she is always down to grub with me. Now If your trying Japanese BBQ like this place for the first time fair warning it can be a bit overwhelming. First things first, this is raw meat / seafood provided and you cook it for 45 seconds- 1 min on a grill installed on the table.... or if your like us we cook that thing WELL DONE. The great thing about this restaurant is they do have BBQ Course options for 2-5 people with Starters and pre selected meats. If you want to pick each meat then you also have that option and will be charged per meat or other food selections.

NOW GET IN THIS BELLLLLLY ;)

We as newbies went on the more safer side and did the 2 person Meat Lovers BBQ course . The starters that already come with it is Miso Soup ×2 White Rice ×2 Edamame Half Gyu-Kaku Salad ×2 Japanese Chicken Karaage . THATS JUST THE STARTERS OK. Then you have 7 different meats which for me the downside was it being mainly beef and steak. I am not a steak girl at all, the texture is just too much. On the bright side you are able to add any other meats on top of what you receive in the course package. And there's freakin smores included in the course!!! This place is one of the few where you get what you pay for ! The flavor, prices and hospitality was just all A1. I will forever suggest venturing outside what you're used to, how can you state you don't like something if you never tried it. So if this post convinced you enough to go try Japanese BBQ, Gyu-Kaku is located in three different parts of Massachusetts. Dorchester , Brookline and Cambridge !

I attached a video below of our table, the amount of meat was so endless i couldn't get it all. It literally took over the entire table ! And more was added after i took this !!!!

BTW Restaurant week is happening right now March 14-28 in Boston ! Check out all the restaurants participating on this link below:
